This exhibition presents a first body of works developed directly from Egyptian blue. The works emerge through processes of firing, grinding, and testing the pigment under different material conditions. The film Egyptian Blue, How to Forge the Skies and the Seas follows this process across archives, laboratories, and landscapes.

The exhibition brings together works engaging with medieval craft histories and their relation to contemporary narratives. My textile works, produced with artisans from Cairo’s khayamiya district, draw on the visual language of medieval banners, translating figures from contemporary news cycles into recurring types and symbolic forms.
