In this work, a line is typed from right to left in Arabic and from left to right in English, using two typewriters that move in opposite directions. Placed side by side, the machines advance slowly until their lines meet at a single point. The action is repeated, producing an imperfect “sonata of lines.” The resulting scores are titled Clef de Sol—the lines typed with the right hand—and Clef de Fa—those typed with the left.
